When thinking of building a home as a ‘self build’ or adding an extension, look around your immediate area, is there a predominance of a particular style or of certain materials, brick, render, chalk, carstone, flint?
The gable end on this home, was considered well before the home was built, Flemish Bond brickwork, False Window and additional detail with clay roof tiles, blend the home more immediately into it’s environment.
We draw plans for submission to local authority for Planning Application Approval, and produce drawings for Building Regulations that can be used to give to builders for quotes…
Do ask to see examples of previous #Plans we have drawn for local #homes or industrial units. We’ll be happy to show them.

Not all of our projects are for full scale homes. We are currently drawing up plans for garaging to blend into a natural setting in Rural Norfolk.
Call Rob to discuss your project and timescales, visiting your site is all part of the service.
A Self Build is a big commitment for anyone, so learning to delegate is key and often the money spent on doing so is an investment freeing up time and offering peace of mind.
We have the knowledge and technology to draw up plans and designs for your new project, to submit them to your local authority and to submit for building regulations approval.
Give us a call and we can show you some of our past designs.

Self Build Insurance.
This week we are considering the traditional building materials that can alter the appearance of a new home, externally.
Think about the differences that can be achieved by using simply brick, to front your new build or by adding flint pebbles to the face of the home as seen in coastal areas of Norfolk including Morston, Cley and Burnham Market.
Carstone is popular around Sandringham, West Newton, Hunstanton and Clay is used near Dereham & Wymondham.
If brick is the material of choice, consider how it should be laid! English or Flemish Bond, Garden Wall Bond, Header Bond or Stretcher Bond? Think about the rear external elevation as well as the front…
Can timber be incorporated into the design of your #selfbuild?
Materials are so much more than just ‘brick’ and should be thought through with your designer.
For many years we have sourced land in prime Norfolk Villages and Towns for our own development. Both designing and building contemporary, country inspired homes.
We are in an excellent position where we come with experience of both fields and have also self built our own homes.
Having an understanding of the large undertaking that a New Build is and being able to bring designs to life is a valuable asset to our clients.
Talking plain English throughout the process, we can draft plans from information given by the customer and as dictated by the development site. These can be submitted to the planning authority and if approval is granted, building regulation drawings can be drawn up for clients construction company to work with.
Consideration should be given to size of land for development, scale of property required. Any constraints on site: TPO Trees, visibility issues at the main entrance, local character, planning restrictions if permission has already been granted for a property previously, effect on neighbouring property, is there a desire to ‘blend in’ or to be modern and cutting edge, traditional or timber frame construction.
